If you can’t already tell, this site is under major construction.
I decided to fix what wasn’t broken. I tampered with what would have been fine. But, that’s me. I can’t stand just plain old fine. Not when I can do better. My mother always says, “if you’re going to do something, do it right.” And, although the old design was completely functional, it just wasn’t right.
Which led to this. I apologize for what you see right now. I know it’s a mess. That’s also me. I completely destroy before I can build anew. Welcome to the madness. Pardon the chaos. It will be over soon, and then we will all have a much better view. How’s that sound?
Man, have I missed this. It reminds me of summertime. Ah, the tweets. The people. The cookies.
For those of you who don’t know, #WriteMotivation is a goal-oriented community for writers. It’s a great network, and I love being part of it.

Exactly six months ago, I made some goals. Goals that I felt were very important for me to accomplish in my 22nd year. I had just watched a motivational video about jellybeans, which I will share with you for a second time:

I’m giving my blog a HUGE makeover. I expect all the changes to be up by Jan. 1st, hopefully with no delays. But, you never know. So, if you happen by the site one day and find that every link is broken or that all the widgets are in wonky places, well, it’s obviously still under maintenance. I’ll just have to do the best I can.
Part of this HUGE makeover involves you. I have found many of my favorite blogs through recommendations from other bloggers. By the time I have my blog redesigned, I should have at least 100 followers, which means 100 people who I can recommend others to. I would like to help you gain followers and lead others to even more great content. The only way I can do that is to add a recommendation section in my sidebar once the redesign is up. I’d like you to be a part of that.
So, if you’re a blogger who would like to be recommended, please let me know in the comments below or via any of my linked social media networks. Really. If you have 450,000 followers, so be it. If you have 1 and that 1 is actually you, so be it. It’s hard to generate traffic when you have little time and experience. I know that because I was there. I still don’t know everything. I’m still learning every day. But, I’d love to help other bloggers generate traffic in whatever way that I can.
If you want to be recommended, just provide me with your name and a link to your blog. If you have a blog button, let me know that as well. I will go through each link to check out your blogs. Remember, I’m looking for blogs that my followers might be interested in. So, I’m looking for blogs about faith, writing, editing, freelancing, growing, etc. In other words, don’t be alarmed if I don’t feature your blog about making goat milk soap. It’s not that your blog isn’t awesome. It’s that it might not apply to my audience, and I want the recommendation section to be as relevant as possible.
Thanks ahead of time for your support. I can’t wait to reveal the updated blog! I think you guys will be floored. 🙂
A few months ago, one of my professors mentioned that a local business owner needed a brochure made for his company. I approached her after class, and she set me up with the Mr. Larry Carpenter, owner of Jack-O-Lantern Farm in Muscle Shoals, AL. After a quick visit to the farm, I started working on the brochure. This is the brochure I made for him:
I’m very happy with it, and so is Mr. Carpenter. In fact, he told me that he is going to recommend me to other local vendors. In a few minutes, I’m going to start designing a business card for myself and drop those by the farm on my way to Florence on Monday. It is so exciting to have finally reached a point in my life where I need a business card. I didn’t think that would happen so soon after graduation, yet here it is!
